Translating evidence from clinical trials to routine care can take many years, particularly in low-income and middle-income countries, delaying access to lifesaving or life-changing treatments. As few as one in five evidence-based health interventions are incorporated into routine use, and the average time lag between evidence availability and practice change is up to 17 years.
