Canadian gynaecologists, family physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals are adding first-trimester medical abortion to their scope of practice. This study aimed to systematically develop a tool to support these professionals. An expert design advisory group created the initial clinical guideline-based tool. Five healthcare professionals evaluated the tool using the System Usability Scale (SUS) and interviews. The median SUS was 86.25 (69.4-97.5), indicating good usability. The final tool includes a checklist (including counselling, eligibility, assessment, labs/imaging, provision, follow-up, and notes sections) and a resource guide. Between 2018 and 2022, the checklist and resource guide were downloaded over 8000 times.
