For COAF authors, they look up the key aspects of <a href="https://wellcome.ac.uk/funding/managing-grant/complying-our-open-access-policy" target="_blank">COAF’s Open Access Policy</a>. If this is the case, check the Journal’s Instructions for Authors, scanning for a statement specifically about ‘CC BY’.</span>

<span class="goldColorText"><a href="mailto:researchonline@lshtm.ac.uk">Drop us an email</a> explaining that you are concerned that you may not be able to publish with the licence required by your funder (COAF).</span> <span class="goldColorText">If a publisher does not deposit work for you, you can still ensure that your work will comply with the COAF requirements by <a href="https://plus.europepmc.org/emss/local/Help/pi1.htm" target="_blank">depositing your work in Europe PMC/PubMed Central yourself</a> (this needs to be done as soon as possible and in any event within six months of the journal publisher’s official date of final publication).

Congratulations! Your work is on its way to meeting the policy of your funder. Because it will be made Gold open access, it will be exempt from the REF Open Access policy requirement to self-archive your AAM.
