The invention relates to a method of identifying the presence of an artemisinin derivative in a sample, comprising combining the sample with a reagent selected from dinitrophenylhydrazine and Fast Blue RR or a combination of both, and observing the sample for a colour change, the colour change being indicative of the presence of artemisinin derivative.
